Saturday was a great day here in the Wye Valley. We started the day with a guided canoe trip from Kerne Bridge to Symonds Yat, the weather was fantastic and everyone was in great spirits. The paddle down was just stunning, not a breath of wind, nice and warm for an autumn day and a decent flow in the river mean’t that there was not much effort needed to get down to Symonds Yat. After a great pub lunch at the Ferrie Inn in front of open fires we set off into the Forest of Dean for a bit of orienteering. The group all found their way round the course in about 1.5 hours and saw plenty of deer and other wildlife before heading back up river to finish at 5pm. It was a great day and goes to show that the autumn is a great time to get out and about in the Wye Valley, with the river levels and weather conditions better than quite a few summer days it’s a reminder that we should get out there and enjoy the outdoors whenever we can.
