Bushcraft not only teaches valuable survival techniques but goes further and is about how to thrive in the great outdoors, sustainability and how to live off the land, its surviving and thriving in the natural environment, and the acquisition of ancient skills and knowledge to do so. Bushcraft skills include; firecraft, tracking, hunting, fishing, shelter building, the use of tools such as knives and axes, foraging, hand-carving wood, container construction from natural materials, rope and twine-making. We are perfectly located in the Forest of Dean on the River Wye and our bushcraft survival courses are tailored towards those who want to learn how to make the best of the tools and resources to hand, many of these techniques are taught to the military and have been used all around the world. Our courses are great for individuals or for groups alike and very popular team building events.

We have courses and trips to suit all tastes, from a bushcraft taster session and a day of canoeing and bushcraft which is a great way to see the stunning Wye Valley and a great introduction to both activities to a full on 3 day River Bushcraft Expedition on the River Wye.   • Food Procurement & Preparation – Traps, snares and how to cook your catch.

Bushcraft Cooking on the Fire

This is a great course for anyone new to bushcraft or wanting to find out what its all about.

In our beautiful riverside Forest of Dean location you will lean about fire starting, camp building and basic knife skills.

Surrounded by wildlife and a vast array of natural resources you will get a good understanding and grounding in basic bushcraft survival techniques and hopefully be inspired to want to learn more.

Bushcraft & Survival Day Out in the Wye Valley

Bushcraft is a skill that has grown in polularity in the past few years thanks to people such as Ray Mears, we believe it’s a celebration of ancient crafts.

Bushcraft is about surviving and thriving in the natural environment, and the acquisition of ancient skills and knowledge to do so. Bushcraft skills include; firecraft, tracking, hunting, fishing, shelter building, the use of tools such as knives and axes, foraging, hand-carving wood, container construction from natural materials, rope and twine-making, and many others. These are the kinds of skills well known to our ancient predecessors, many of which are still practiced today as an everyday skill amongst aboriginal and native peoples around the world.

Our Bushcraft and Survival day is based in the beautiful Forest of Dean and you will cover shelter building, fire starting, foraging, game preparation and cooking.

Multi-Activity Canoeing & Bushcraft Day Out in the Wye Valley

For a great day out combine bushcraft and canoeing. Spend the first half of the day on the stunning River Wye, paddling with our highly experienced guides follow the river from Goodrich to Symonds Yat. The river trip takes around 3 hours and you pass through the fabulous Wye Gorge and past Yat Rock where you can see peregrine falcons, heron and buzzards, deer and wild boar run wild on the banks and if you are lucky you may come across an otter.

After a lovely pub lunch its time to get into the forest and see if you can light a fire, build a shelter and learn some valuable bushcraft & survival techniques.

Weekend Canoeing and Bushcraft Expedition – £149 pp

Canoeing and Bushcraft Weekend in the Wye Valley

Canoeing and Bushcraft go hand in hand and to be able to experience this in the beautiful Wye Valley is an opportunity not to be missed.
This extremely popular trip begins at the beautiful market town of Ross on Wye , you will meet your guide for the next two days and we kit you out with everything you need before you take to the water and paddle down stream taking in the stunning scenery and wildlife.
Camp overnight under Yat Rock and the stars surrounded by fantastic wildlife. Learn fire starting techniques, how to prepare and cook your dinner and expedition shelter building. A true life experience for the outdoor lover.

Previous canoeing or bushcraft experience is not necessary, although complete novices should book in couples to paddle a tandem canoe, paddling a canoe solo requires previous open canoe experience.
