From the USA comes the latest addition to the Wye Canoes Team Morgan Specht.  Morgan comes from Virginia and spent many years as a raft guide before moving to the UK, he is also a canoe and kayak coach and white water rescue specialist. Morgan is proving to be useful for loading the land rover roof rack with canoe gear thanks to him being 10 ft tall. Other lesser know talents […]

A Fantastic Weekend with More to Come

Last weekend was superb here at Wye Canoes, the sun shone and temperatures soared making a canoe trip on the River Wye the ideal way to cool down. The river was at it’s lowest for probably 18 months and very clear. Wildlife was abundant in the form of swimming deer, peregrine falcons, jumping salmon, otters etc.. Everyone had a great time albeit some a little redder than when they started, […]

Snowy Times Here at Symonds Yat

What a great thing to wake up to; a few inches of snow. The forest and the gorge look great with a covering of the white stuff, only downside is the coaching session tomorrow looks like a no go, I don’t think the customers are going to make it.

Wye Invader Still in Symonds Yat

The Wye Invader a 230 ton, 38m long dutch barge is still sat above the rapids here at Symonds Yat today on its journey back down the Wye. We started the day on Bigsweir Bridge on the lower Wye and posed and pouted for the camera before moving onto Brockweir, the sun was shining and we didn’t see a drop of rain. Rae and Sian did a great job […]

A Beautiful Day Here in the Wye Valley

After some pretty harsh weather in recent days things are returning to normal here in the Wye Valley. River levels have dropped massively and we started the day here with a crisp frost and blue skies and it reminds us why it’s a great time of year to get out and about and explore the area. I came across this waterfall at Biblins while walking Max the dog this morning it […]
