With March 1st coming around faster than expected that signals the start of the canoe hire season, but as with most years the actual start of the canoe hire season is dependant on environmental conditions; river height, water temp etc…and although the river level is back to normal we are still in a bit of a cold spell. Air temperature here in the Wye gorge is maxing out at about 7 deg and the water temp is around 5.5 deg. That us still a little too cold for a lot of people to be out on the river if they don’t have the equipment or experience to deal with a swim, so we will be waiting for the weather to improve and little before we allow our customers out on the river unguided.
