The Finest Canoe Trip on the River Wye
Our customers on the rapidsThe finest canoe trip on the River Wye has to be Kerne Bridge to Monmouth or Redbrook. It is a full day canoe trip starting just below Goodrich Castle and covers around 14/15 miles with an option to continue further down to Redbrook for another 45 minutes if you have made good time.
Your day starts by meeting us at our base Ye Olde Ferrie Inn where we kit you out with buoyancy aids, river maps, paddles, dry bags / barrels etc, then we transport you and your boats up river to Kerne Bridge just below Goodrich Castle where we run through safety checks and give you a paddle talk. You will then have a relaxing morning's paddle down stream, going with the flow through Lower Lydbrook and past Yat Rock and Coldwell Caves where Peregrine Falcons nest. You can also see Herons, Kingfishers and jumping Salmon is a frequent sound to be heard on the river.
The scenery is simply fantastic, in the film "Shadowlands", Antony Hopkins who plays C. S. Lewis describes the view of the Wye from Yat Rock as a "View of Heaven". The morning will last for around 2-3 hours before arriving at Ye Old Ferrie Inn for a well deserved lunch. After lunch we fit you with helmets and give you another paddle talk, then it's off through the Symonds Yat Rapids and into the beautiful Symonds Yat Gorge where the limestone cliffs tower above you and past King Arthurs Cave and the Seven Sisters Rock and onto Monmouth or Redbrook where we collect you and bring you back to Ye Olde Ferrie Inn and your car.
If you prefer we can raft your boats together to go through the Grade 2 Symonds Yat Rapids, which would then mean it's almost impossible to capsize and you can enjoy the rapids safe and relatively dry. If you like, once you have had your fun on the rapids, you can undo the rafting equipment and paddle as single canoes again or alternatively leave the rafting in place and take a lazy afternoon drifting down stream to Monmouth or paddle onto Redbrook where you can enjoy a lovely drink at The Boat Inn whilst waiting for us to pick you up.
Family Fun in a Rafted CanoeAn example of the cost for a family of 4 for this canoe trip: Canoe hire would be £60 for 2 Old Town Canadian Canoes then transport would be £21 making a total of £81 for a fantastic day out.
We cater for children from 5yrs upwards and supply helmets to everyone wanting to experience the rapids.
To book your trip just call us on 01600 890027 or email us via our contact page.
